Libra Season

Every year, soon after after the Fall Equinox, a day when the day and night are perfectly balanced, is Libra season. With it, the start of Libra season, marks a descent into darkness for the next 6 months, as the nights grow longer than the days!

Themes:
balance, duality, shadow work + light work, mindful awareness, the ability to flow through the things we go through (as Libra is an air sign), justice, equality, harmony.

As a sign represented by mechanical scales, Libra helps us use our mind and higher vision to bring balance and harmony into our lives. So whether that is balancing fun with work, flow with intention (especially since Libra season follows disciplined and perfectionist Virgo), small steps and bigger picture, light with shadow, masculine and feminine, or heart with head, this is the time of the year to take an honest look at it all, to embrace the darkness within and around you with love, curiosity, and an open heart.

Shadow side of Libra:

• Indecisiveness, as Libra likes to make sure to think things through to weigh them out, some things may take longer to be decided upon!
• This may lead to slowed action + weakened ability to concrete/manifest, however trust that taking your time will pay off in the long run as long as you don’t let thinking hold you back too much!
• If anything challenges or compromises your justice, rights or freedom, use your voice to expose the shadow and light the way for others who may not have as much power, voice, audience strength, abundance for you!
• In balancing yourself, be careful of swinging too far the other way. Remember there is a more moderate and easy middle route and that you do not have to prove yourself to anyone!
• Libra wants everyone to be happy, and loves to be loved, so be careful of making yourself small to be liked, or compromising yourself to maintain harmony during this time.
• ​Another thing to look out for: being overly cruel in the name of humanity. Fight the good fight but don’t become mean or lose yourself or your way in the process. Be tough, forthright and honest, and strong to your morals and values.

Cards For Libra Season

1. Sekhmet: Courage. Truth. Shadow work
Sekhmet is the Egyptian lion goddess of war. She is the destroyer of Ra (the sun God’s enemies) and is also associated with both healing, and disease! (After all one must know what causes disease to heal). The significance of Sekhmet, a dark feminine goddess appearing during this season is no coincidence. As the earth descends towards darker nights and shorter days, we too spiritually will be faced with the shadows of darkness growing within and around us. We are after all, children of the Earth, and like her, we too have darker energies within us like chaos and destruction. The reason for this? Because it is necessary to destroy the old, in order to make room for the new. We also cannot be in an imbalanced state of constantly creating. This is where destruction comes in to help us release what needs to go, and then continue forward lighter and brighter. By embracing both sides of yourself shadow and light, head and heart, human and spirit, you become a more well rounded, experienced, knowledgeable and balanced being. Finally, be honest and truthful about what holds you back, what creates dis-ease in your mind, body and spirit and look at what aspects of self are coming up to be healed, reclaimed, integrated, held, and alchemized during this time. Remember that any shadow you face, also helps you to see the clarity and power of your own light, so be brave, honest, and bold this season: face the dragon, win the gold!

2. Spells and Rituals: Combine magic and self care together
This card touches upon Libra’s ruling feminine planet, Venus, and Venus rules love and beauty! As such, during this time, see where you can combine magic and self care together. Create spells to say out loud or in your head while combining your words with action. One of my personal favorites is when brushing my teeth I say in my mind “Thank you to my teeth and gums for what you do all day long. May my teeth and gums continue to grow healthy and strong!” Belief combined with inspired action can move mountains and shift entire timelines. Allow yourself to infuse your power, light and faith into all that you do, and watch how this beauty, magic, and joy spreads and expands x10! After all, when you take care of you, you are better able to take care of all those around you too!
